Uninstalling problematic patches
If the patches released by software vendors do not work correctly, you can uninstall them (rollback).
As not all patches can be uninstalled, we recommend that you designate test computers before deploying a patch across the entire network. See Configuring patch discovery.
Linux and macOS do not support patch uninstallation.
Requirements for uninstalling an installed patch
-
The user account used to access the Advanced EPDR console must have the Install, uninstall, and exclude patches permission. See Understanding permissions.
-
The patch must have been successfully installed.
-
The patch must be uninstallable.
Uninstalling a patch
-
From the top menu, select Status.
-
Go to My lists in the side menu. Click the Add link. The Add list dialog box opens.
-
In the Patch management section, select the Installation history list.
-
Select the checkbox next to the patch you want to uninstall. A toolbar appears. The Uninstall patch button shows if the patch can be uninstalled.
-
Click Uninstall patch. The Select computer dialog box opens:
-
Select Uninstall from all computers. Cytomic Patch creates an immediate execution task to uninstall the patch from all network computers.
-
Select Uninstall from "{{hostName}}" only and Cytomic Patch creates an immediate execution task to uninstall the patch from the specified computer.
-
-
If a restart is required to finish uninstalling the patch, Cytomic Patch waits for the user to restart it manually.
If not excluded, uninstalled patches reappear in the lists of available patches and are reinstalled during the next execution of the associated task. If a vendor withdraws a patch, it is neither shown nor installed. See Excluding patches.
